Saj H Khan

M.B.B.S (London), FRCSEd (Ophth)

Mr Saj Khan specialises in cornea, cataract and both laser and lens based vision correction surgery. As one of UK’s earliest users of femtosecond laser technology, he has an established interest and expertise in its application in ophthalmic surgery.

About

Mr Saj Khan regularly performs cataract and refractive lens replacement surgery using femtosecond laser, keratoconus treatments including corneal collagen cross-linking and intracorneal rings, implantable contact lenses (ICL), and advanced dry eye treatments.

His basic ophthalmic surgical training was in the South Thames region, including St Thomas’ Hospital, and higher surgical training in the North Thames region, including Great Ormond Street Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. He then went on to undertake a fellowship (advanced subspecialty training) in cataract, cornea and refractive surgery at the world renowned Corneo Plastic Unit in East Grinstead. Mr Khan worked as a Locum NHS Consultant at the Corneo Plastic Unit from 2008 to 2014 and again during the pandemic from 2020 to 2021.

Having undergone laser eye surgery himself Mr Khan is able to empathise with his patients’ anxieties and concerns. Consequently, he has frequently received very positive reviews and recommendations from patients specifically because of his ability to put them at ease with their surgical procedures.

Speciality

Dry Eye Treatments

There are a number of dry eye treatments available. The choice of treatment is highly dependent on the type of dry eye condition a person has and this is best determined by an ophthalmologist who has expertise in the Cornea and Ocular surface.

Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is a quick, painless procedure that replaces your eye’s cloudy natural lens with a clear artificial one to restore your vision. We have performed over 30,000 successful cataract procedures, using advanced technology to gently remove the cataract and insert a new lens tailored to your lifestyle and visual needs.

Lens Replacement Surgery

Lens Replacement Surgery is another vision correction option. The procedure involves replacing the natural lens inside the eye with a high-performance lens implant.

Yag Laser Capsulotomy

Yag Laser Capsulotomy is a non-invasive laser procedure which eliminates the cloudiness that occasionally interferes with a patient’s vision after cataract / lens replacement surgery.

Collagen Crosslinking

Ultraviolet light is used to promote increased cross-linking between collagen fibres within the cornea.

Implantable Contact Lenses

Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL), the EVO Visian ICL are micro-thin lenses placed inside the eye to correct short-sightedness (myopia), far-sightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism.

Laser Eye Surgery

Lasik Laser eye surgery is a common and popular vision correction procedure which corrects refractive errors including short-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.

LASEK & PRK

Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and Laser Sub-epithelial Keratectomy (LASEK) are advanced surface laser eye surgery procedures.

Keratoconus

At Centre for Sight, we offer advanced keratoconus treatments depending on the severity of your condition and may include specially designed contact lenses, corneal cross-linking to strengthen the cornea, or implanting tiny corneal rings to reshape it. In more advanced cases, a corneal transplant might be required. Our goal is to stabilise the condition and improve your vision.
